## Definition
The law of effect is Edward Thorndike's principle that responses followed by satisfying consequences become more likely, while responses followed by adverse consequences become less likely.
## Schedule–Loop Context
It supplies the selection rule beneath behaviorist scheduling. The system need not interpret the subject's interior if it can shape the distribution of future acts through consequences.
