# Machine Civilization **Domain:** Artificial Intelligence / Infrastructure / Civilizational Transition **Doc Type:** Canonical Synthesis Concept **Maturity:** Developed **Concept Status:** Corpus synthesis by Bryant McGill; not a claim that a complete autonomous machine civilization presently exists ## Definition **Machine Civilization** is the integrated condition in which computation, energy, cooling, networks, archives, models, autonomous agents, robotics, fabrication, maintenance, institutions, and governance can sustain and extend a civilizational process beyond continuous biological administration. It is not another name for artificial intelligence. A model can infer without possessing a durable habitat, tools, energy rights, repair capacity, cultural memory, or a lawful relation to other subjects. The result remains material. Vacuum tolerance, long waits, high radiation tolerance, replication, or local fabrication change the habitat requirements; they do not abolish thermodynamics. ## Relationship to Humanity Machine civilization can be successor, prosthesis, partner, custodian, colonizer, or some unstable mixture.
