## Definition
***Marine Doom*** was a U.S. Marine Corps modification of the commercial videogame *Doom II*, adapted in the 1990s as a low-cost tool for team tactics, decision-making, and rehearsal.
## Significance
The project is a concrete military-entertainment transfer: a consumer game engine became training infrastructure through modification rather than purpose-built procurement. It illustrates the bidirectional membrane between play and operations while remaining distinct from formal qualification or live-field training.
