# Measurement **Domain:** Science / Management / Feedback systems **Doc Type:** Canonical concept node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition Measurement assigns observations to a consistent scale or indicator so that states and changes can be compared. ## Mechanism and Significance A relevant measure creates feedback. It lets a person or system compare intention with result, detect drift, calibrate action, and learn whether an intervention changed what mattered. ## Evidence Boundary What is easy to count is not always what matters. Measures can distort conduct when the indicator replaces the underlying purpose. ## Relationships Feedback · Calibration · Cognitive Agency ## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts > “Measure what matters.
