# Military Radio
## Definition
Radio equipment supports military communications and coordination. Packaging and microelectronics determine important physical and computational characteristics of the system.
## Regional role
Microelectronics integration supplies compact physical capability, and large computational systems supply the resources for scientific and AI work. TIE’s manufacturing program and TACC’s systems occupy distinct institutional roles. Their proximity lets models, hardware, researchers, and mission recipients exchange useful work through defined projects and interfaces rather than an assumed unified program.
