# Mission
**Domain:** Strategy / Purpose / Organizational behavior
**Doc Type:** Canonical concept node
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
A mission is a durable governing purpose that organizes goals, choices, resources, and standards across time.
## Mechanism and Significance
A mission acts as a selection rule. It helps a person or organization decide which opportunities belong, which costs are justified, which efforts should compound, and which attractive distractions should be declined.
## Evidence Boundary
A declared mission is not proof of aligned conduct. The mission becomes operational only when decisions, resource allocation, habits, and accountability repeatedly express it.

## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts
> “A focal point concentrates power. Just as a magnifying glass focuses sunlight into fire, a clear mission concentrates scattered efforts into results. Focus turns energy into impact.”
