# Monism **Domain:** Metaphysics / Philosophy of Mind **Doc Type:** Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition **Monism** is the view that reality is fundamentally one kind of thing, one substance, or one integrated order rather than an irreducible collection of independent kinds. Monisms vary widely. Materialist, idealist, neutral, and spiritual monisms do not make the same claims. The shared impulse is to explain apparent plurality through a deeper unity. ## Corpus Context The corpus places monism beside Pluralism without declaring either sufficient. Unity can disclose relation, but premature unity can erase differences that remain ethically or analytically important. ## See Also Nonduality · Dialectics · Form · Human Condition
