Examples include EEG with fNIRS, ECoG with speech audio, fMRI with task events, or neural recordings synchronized to video and physiological monitoring. ## Architectural role Different modalities observe different aspects of a biological process at different spatial and temporal scales. Their value depends on shared identifiers, clock alignment, coordinate systems, calibration, provenance, and explicit treatment of uncertainty.
