## Definition
**Multimodal neural data fusion** integrates information from two or more modalities into a joint representation, inference, or control signal. Fusion may occur at raw-data, feature, model, decision, or temporal-alignment levels.
## Architectural constraints
Modalities differ in resolution, latency, noise, coordinate systems, and biological meaning. A valid fusion pipeline must preserve those differences, document alignment and calibration, and avoid treating correlated measurements as interchangeable observations.
