# National Network of Fusion Centers **Entity class:** Nationwide public-safety and homeland-security information-sharing network ## Definition The **National Network of Fusion Centers** is the nationwide ecosystem of state and major-urban-area [[wiki/Fusion Center|fusion centers]]. DHS's 2021 assessment covered 80 centers; nearly all reported access to classified or sensitive federal networks, and many co-located federal, National Guard, emergency-management, and law-enforcement personnel. ## Importance The network is a domestic distribution and collection fabric rather than one centralized database. It extends threat information, suspicious-activity reporting, analytic support, and partner access across the country.
