## Definition
The **national security digital nervous system** is a metaphor for the federated institutions, networks, clouds, data platforms, identity repositories, analytic applications, command structures, and operational nodes through which the United States senses threats, integrates information, makes decisions, and acts. It is not the name of a single government system.
