# Neural Integrity
**Entity class:** Security property
## Definition
**Neural integrity** is the preservation of authorized, safe, and verifiable neural sensing and stimulation states within a human-machine system. It extends familiar data and command integrity into the physiological consequences of a neural interface.
## Scope
Neural integrity includes the provenance of sensed signals, authenticity of commands, integrity of decoding and stimulation models, enforcement of safe limits, detection of abnormal responses, reversibility, and verification that the biological endpoint remains within or returns to an accepted safe state.
