# Nothingness **Domain:** Philosophy / Metaphysics / Contemplative Practice **Doc Type:** Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition **Nothingness** is the philosophical problem of absence, nonbeing, emptiness, or the apparent lack from which distinction becomes thinkable. Traditions differ sharply over whether it is a negation, a condition of possibility, an experiential category, or a misleading abstraction. Nothingness should not be collapsed into Zero. Zero is a formal sign and number with defined operations; nothingness is a wider metaphysical and experiential question. ## Corpus Context The corpus approaches nothingness through silence, empty state, the null device, negative space, and the capacity in which a new form may emerge. ## See Also Silence · Formlessness · Negative Space · Paradox
