# Operational Onboarding **Entity class:** Personnel and access lifecycle ## Definition **Operational onboarding** is the governed transition by which a person becomes authorized to perform a defined role. Depending on the role, it can include sponsorship, identity proofing, employment or contractual binding, suitability or clearance adjudication, nondisclosure agreements, training, briefing, credential issuance, role assignment, system and facility provisioning, monitoring, and later deprovisioning. The process is not one universal intelligence status.
