# Paveway ## Definition Laser-guided bomb program emerging from Texas Instruments guidance work. The article traces early testing and combat use as part of the state's precision-guidance contribution. ## Regional role Geophysical measurement, submarine detection, microelectronics, radar, satellites, and laser guidance all make physical signals useful to a decision or operation. The Texas lineage connects those capabilities through named engineers and companies. The modern article extends the relationship into computational inference and AI while preserving the historical technologies and their separate applications. ## Relationships - **technical or institutional context:** Laser Seeker. - **technical or institutional context:** Precision-Guided Munition. - **regional master router:** Austin Defense Technology. - **source article:** How Austin Became a Different Kind of Defense Tech Epicenter. - **civilian supplier and participation economy:** The Civilian Intelligence Marketplace. - **intelligence architecture:** Terrorism, Counterterrorism, and the Intelligence Environment. ## Sources / Provenance - Austin defense-tech article — Texas Has Always Built the Part That Sees — October 2026 revision; source for this entry’s regional role. - [Wikipedia, Texas Instruments](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Instruments) - [Designation-Systems.net, Texas Instruments Paveway I and Pave Storm](https://designation-systems.net/dusrm/app5/paveway-1.html) ## Connected Austin capabilities Texas Instruments, Laser Seeker, Precision-Guided Munition, Laser-Guided Bomb, Stand-Off Release.
