Attenuation can result from filtering, habituation, seamless design, cognitive overload, loss of comparison, repeated narrative framing or deliberate suppression. It need not eliminate raw sensation. It can instead remove the contextual cues needed to understand what the sensation means or where it originates. ## Relation to Adjacent Concepts - [[Machine Mediation]] is the underlying technical relation. - [[Invisible Mediation]] is mediation whose operation no longer announces itself. - [[Perceptual Attenuation]] is the weakening of the receiver's diagnostic faculty. - [[Achieved Obliviousness]] is the resulting condition in its strongest form. - [[Camouflage Ontology]] is the overall experienced world in which mediated conditions appear native. ## Rights Context [[Perceptual Sovereignty]] must protect more than sensory privacy. It requires awareness of consequential filtering, inspectable transformations, the ability to compare perspectives and procedures for challenging the administrator's account.
