**Peter O’Donnell Jr.** was the Dallas philanthropist whose collaboration with J. Tinsley Oden helped expand UT computational science through institutional planning, endowed research capacity, and the ACES building. Oden’s history places their meeting in 1990 and associates his support with the expansion from TICOM to TICAM.
The medicine/terrorism article also records his earlier service on the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. That creates a biographical crossing between intelligence advising and later scientific philanthropy. The documented relationship is a person’s appointments and subsequent institutional support; causal claims about intelligence direction of the philanthropy remain unresolved.
His importance to the Austin architecture lies in durable research capacity: buildings, faculty recruitment, endowments, and the interdisciplinary setting in which computational methods could develop.
