# Poetry
**Domain:** Literature / Language / Memory
**Doc Type:** Art-Form Node
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
**Poetry** is an intensified use of language in which rhythm, sound, image, compression, line, silence, and ambiguity participate directly in meaning. It may narrate or argue, but it also preserves relations that cannot be reduced to propositional summary.
Poetry makes absence operational through pauses, line breaks, omission, and negative space. Its formal constraints can increase rather than diminish semantic possibility.
## Corpus Context
The journal uses poetry as memory, philosophical inquiry, farewell, and a means of carrying complex experience before analytic language becomes available.
