# Post-Biological Estate Planning
**Domain:** Continuity / Estate Planning / Digital Assets
**Doc Type:** Canonical Legal-Planning Concept
**Maturity:** Proposed
## Definition
**Post-Biological Estate Planning** is the coordinated use of present-day directives, testamentary instruments, trusts, digital-asset instructions, disposition documents, identity records and contracts to preserve a person's continuity choices and the assets or obligations needed to carry them forward.
It is a bridge strategy, not a claim that current law recognizes computational persons or guarantees activation.
## Instrument Portfolio
A coherent plan may need separate instruments for:
- health-care decisions and incapacity;
- disposition of biological remains;
- fiduciary access to digital assets and communications;
- wills, trusts and nonprobate transfers;
- intellectual-property, likeness and training-data permissions;
- archive, reconstruction and activation choices;
- appointment and succession of a [[wiki/Continuity Agent|Continuity Agent]] and fiduciary;
- provider, custodian and emergency-transfer terms;
- funding, financial assurance and charitable-purpose restrictions; and
- registry location, authentication, revocation and supersession.
No single present-day instrument safely absorbs all of these functions. Conflict rules should state which document governs each act and how a later amendment propagates.
## Current-Law Analogues
The Uniform Law Commission's health-care decisions, fiduciary-access, electronic-wills and electronic-estate-planning acts show how prospective instruction, electronic execution and fiduciary authority can be separated. Texas disposition law shows appointment of an agent for remains. UPMIFA shows durable management and modification of restricted charitable funds. Estonia's succession infrastructure shows protected discovery and electronic notarial workflows. Alcor's private forms and Patient Care Trust show one organization's contractual and trust-based attempt to separate enrollment, suspension arrangements and long-term care. These are examples of component techniques, not public validation of a continuity regime.

## Key Insight
**Planning for post-biological uncertainty requires a coordinated portfolio of bounded authorities, not one document pretending to settle identity, consent, custody and funding at once.**
