It is analogous to territorial residency without assuming that territorial law can simply be copied into a synthetic world. The resident depends on infrastructure whose operator may control the physics, access boundaries and persistence of the jurisdiction itself. ## Rights and Duties A post-biological resident may require protection against arbitrary deletion, destructive modification, unauthorized copying and provider surveillance; access to records; portability of identity and state; rights of association, property and contract; and procedures for migration, succession and exit. Residency also creates duties toward other inhabitants and affected biological institutions.
