**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
**Product Stewardship** is responsibility for a product's quality, durability, sourcing, effects, and relationship with customers across its useful life.
## Mechanism and Practice
Stewardship opposes value extraction through premature failure or concealed harm. Durable design, careful sourcing, honest testing, repairability, feedback, and accountability allow a product to strengthen rather than consume trust.

## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts
> “Planned obsolescence turns customers into repeat victims. Products deliberately designed to fail quickly extract money while eroding trust. Makers who design for longevity build reputations that outlast any single sale.”
