# Promotion Legibility
**Domain:** Governance / Agency / Institutional Access
**Doc Type:** Canonical Design Principle
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
**Promotion legibility** is the requirement that a person can discover how to move from passive management or restricted standing into a relationship of articulated participation, service or contestable responsibility.
The threshold may remain demanding and the roster private. What must remain visible is that a route exists, what kinds of demonstrated capacity matter, and how an applicant can reach an accountable interface.
## Findable Door
[[articles/Ambiguity Will Destroy Man and Machine|Ambiguity Will Destroy Man and Machine]] calls this the **findable door** and treats it as the discriminator between an aspirational gradient and a caste system. A difficult door can still preserve agency; an invisible door converts administrative classification into terminal assignment.
## Safeguards
Promotion cannot merely reproduce inherited wealth, institutional pedigree or platform visibility. The route should recognize demonstrated capacity, ethical restraint, anomaly detection, cross-domain synthesis and the ability to provide useful contradiction.

## Key Insight
**A regime that cannot be joined cannot be corrected.**
