# Propagation Velocity Propagation velocity is the rate at which a message moves through a network or between communities. It can be measured through time-to-reach, reshare intervals, channel transitions, or the growth of distinct participants. High velocity may reflect urgency, novelty, recommendation systems, trusted intermediaries, paid or coordinated amplification, or strong emotional salience. Speed alone does not establish truth, value, or manipulation.
