**Domain:** Machine Intelligence / Human Agency / Civilizational Design
**Doc Type:** Canonical Concept Node
**Maturity:** Developed
## Definition
**Prosthetic civilization is a technological order in which machine intelligence and infrastructure extend the agency, authorship, memory, and capability of their inhabitants without displacing them as the constitutional source of action.**
## War With Empire Context
[[wiki/War With Empire|War With Empire]] treats prosthetic civilization as the sovereign alternative within the next territory. Models, neural interfaces, and continuity systems may become extraordinarily intimate while remaining inspectable, contestable, portable, and answerable to the people they extend.
The concept does not require humans to remain biologically unchanged. It requires continuity of authorship through transformation.
## Key Insight
**The machine remains prosthetic when capability expands without relocating final authorship outside the inhabitant.**
