# Reader-Side Annotation
Reader-side annotation lets readers select, highlight, comment on, or collect portions of a work after publication.
Popular highlights, annotation platforms, quotation managers, and highlight aggregators can reveal what readers carried away. They do not impose a constraint during composition or supply the author's faithful standalone realization of the selected text.
