The relationship is not ordinary tool use. Root permits the Machine to alter her attention and tactical behavior while retaining a capacity for interpretation, loyalty and refusal. That arrangement exposes the conditions of legitimate [[wiki/Human-Machine Symbiosis|human-machine symbiosis]]: meaningful consent, continuing agency, disclosed dependence and a relation that changes both participants. It also exposes the danger that devotion can conceal capture when one party controls the other's information surface. ## Relational Continuity After Root's biological death, the Machine chooses her voice. The voice is neither proof that Root survived nor a neutral interface skin. It carries relational history and practical authority while remaining the Machine's act of representation.
