One model may represent the child, another the professional role, another private appetite, another moral aspiration and another the present system attempting to integrate them. Their disagreement shows why a person's current autobiography cannot be assumed to possess exclusive authority over the causal history that produced it. The ensemble remains useful only while uncertainty remains available.
