The first relationship may produce a detectable transaction. The second can persist as background condition: support continues while the recipient remains aware that it is conditional. Standing dependency becomes strategically important when the protected relationship preserves [[wiki/Positional Influence|position]] across time. It can operate through patronage, family wealth, institutional membership, employment, legal support, foundation funding, or access to a network. None of these forms is inherently covert or improper. ## Relationship to Tasking A standing dependency can exist without explicit tasking. When a task is documented, the dependency may be part of an operation; without such evidence it remains a structural exposure. ## Boundary Continued support does not prove coercion, control, or intelligence purpose.
