It prevents uncertainty about numerical identity from collapsing the successor into property, error or disposable evidence. ## Rights and Limits A successor may inherit memories, obligations, assets or authorized roles through a validated chain of descent. Those transfers must be specified rather than assumed. The successor may deserve preservation and due process while lacking authority to impersonate or bind the predecessor.
