## Definition
**Synchron** is a brain-computer-interface company developing the **Stentrode**, an electrode array delivered through the vascular system and deployed in a cerebral venous structure near motor cortex. It represents an endovascular access geometry: lower procedural burden and lower channel count than penetrating intracortical arrays, with the tradeoff of recording through vessel tissue.
## Platform role
The Stentrode is paired with implanted and external components that relay recorded motor signals to decoding software. The cluster treats Synchron as a counter-geometry to [[wiki/Neuralink|Neuralink]]: it tests whether useful, stable neural control can be achieved without open-brain insertion of penetrating arrays.
