A WordNet synset asks which lexical items can express an already distinguished sense. A concept set asks where actual usage tends to move from a term, including relations that are thematic, episodic, cultural or affective rather than synonymous. ## Example A synset for _ocean_ stays close to lexical equivalence. A corpus-derived concept set may extend toward water, coast, ships, storms, voyage, isolation or memory. Those terms do not mean _ocean_; they reveal recurrent conceptual movement around it. When several primary concepts are supplied, the important region is where their weighted neighborhoods begin to interact.
