# Technology Organizations **Domain:** Organizations / Software / Infrastructure **Doc Type:** Canonical concept node **Maturity:** Developed ## Definition A technology organization is an organization whose mission depends materially on software, data, interfaces, automation, communications, or other technical infrastructure, regardless of its public industry label. ## Mechanism and Significance Publishing, commerce, coordination, records, and community increasingly pass through technical systems. The quality of that infrastructure therefore shapes what the organization can reliably accomplish. ## Evidence Boundary Technology capability does not replace purpose, governance, domain knowledge, or humane conduct. Infrastructure is consequential because it serves and constrains the mission. ## Relationships Technology · Systems Architecture · Information Architecture · Operational Systems ## Related Articles and Collections - Simple Reminders - Bell Labs and the Distributed Architecture of American Power - Digital Darwinism and the Invisible World of Machine Evolution ## Simple Reminders, Quotations, and Thoughts > “Every serious organization is now a technology organization.
