# The Weaponisation of Everything **Domain:** Security studies / Political analysis **Doc Type:** Developed Book and Concept Node **Maturity:** Developed **Collection:** Gamification Collection ## Definition **The Weaponisation of Everything** is Mark Galeotti's formulation for a strategic environment in which states and other actors turn finance, law, information, migration, corruption, culture, business, and other ordinary systems into instruments of coercion or advantage. ## Significance The phrase helps connect game-like strategic reasoning to institutions not normally labeled weapons. It describes instrumental recombination: the mechanism may remain a bank transfer, media story, sporting decision, or regulatory process while its placement in a campaign changes its strategic function. The concept should not erase agency or specificity by treating all social life as warfare. A rigorous use names the actor, target, mechanism, intended effect, evidence of coordination, and alternative explanation. Architectural possibility is not proof that a particular event was weaponized. ## Sources - Mark Galeotti, [*The Weaponisation of Everything*](https://yalebooks.yale.edu/book/9780300270419/the-weaponisation-of-everything/), Yale University Press ## Routes Hybrid Warfare · Gray Zone · Perception Management · Cognitive Warfare
