Cooling is not an appendix to computation. It is computation-preserving physiology: an information-processing state persists only while waste heat can continuously leave the active components. ## Historical Lineage Computer rooms relied heavily on conditioned air. Rising rack density increased containment, airflow management and liquid assistance.
