# Transclusion Transclusion presents content from one location inside another context by reference rather than by uncontrolled copying. Ted Nelson's Xanadu work joined transclusion to bidirectional linking and provenance. Atomic Markdown shares the concern for source relationships but differs at the extraction boundary: an autonomous proposition may require an author-specified transformation because context removal changes what the fragment needs to say.
