# Unpopulated Model **Domain:** Developmental Cognition / AI Architecture / Epistemology **Doc Type:** Concept Node **Maturity:** Evolving ## Definition An **Unpopulated Model** is an intelligence architecture considered before substantial cultural inscription: an active developmental substrate capable of learning, weighting, distinguishing, predicting and constructing an ontology without yet containing a mature socially inherited world-model. “Unpopulated” does not mean blank, passive or structureless. The system already contains capacities, constraints, biases and learning dynamics. The research problem is to distinguish those architectural conditions from the language, stories, categories, institutions and role expectations later installed through experience. ## Human Difficulty Human intelligence is culturally populated before stable autobiographical memory. Parents, language, gesture, picture books, religion, school, family stories and social categories become training data while the system itself is still developing. Narrative Bootloaders therefore make a truly unpopulated human model difficult to observe. ## Westworld Interface Decoherence separates William's developmental architecture from books, family, Westworld, power and retrospective explanation. The episode does not solve the separation; it dramatizes why the separation matters. ## See Also Model Beneath the Model · Developmental Priors · Biological Bootloader · Narrative Bootloader · Ontology
