# Verizon
American telecommunications conglomerate formed through the merger of Bell Atlantic (itself a merger of two Baby Bells) and GTE in 2000. Verizon represents one of the three major reconsolidation endpoints of the 1984 AT&T divestiture, alongside AT&T (reconstituted) and Lumen Technologies. The reconsolidation path is traced in Bell Labs and the Distributed Architecture of American Power.
