## Definition
The **Viable System Model** is Stafford Beer's recursive model of the organizational functions required for a system to remain viable within a changing environment.
## Schedule–Loop Context
It offers a model-rich alternative to peripheral scheduling. Coordination, control, intelligence and policy operate across nested levels while local units retain bounded autonomy and return information through feedback channels.
