## Definition
**A Walled Garden is a bounded information environment in which access, interpretation, and exchange are controlled by an administrator or protective partition.** The boundary can confine a subject, protect a subject, or do both at once.
## Cross-Corpus Context
In Westworld, Dolores hides an internal channel from diagnostic access. In Pantheon, isolated traumatic memories become a protected but dangerous region of an uploaded mind. Person of Interest turns selective visibility into an interface between the Machine and its operators. The Thirteenth Floor scales the garden into a world whose designed horizon prevents inhabitants from seeing the surrounding stack.
## Key Distinction
A protective interior is not the same as an imposed enclosure. The governing questions are who controls the boundary, who can inspect it, and whether the subject can leave or revise it.
