His decades-long search for the Maze treats the hosts' world as a private metaphysical instrument designed for him. The error is constitutional as well as interpretive: he assumes that his capacity to use the park gives him standing over the subjects within it. ## Rights Laboratory Context William embodies the asymmetry of consequence between guest and host. He can inflict injury within a system designed to restore its owned inhabitants, while their memory of those injuries is suppressed for his continued experience. The apparent reversibility of host bodies becomes an excuse to ignore continuity of suffering. His arc also reverses human exceptionalism. The Forge's behavioral project suggests that humans may be describable through comparatively compact decision structures. If predictability justified ownership, intervention or diminished standing, Delos's own human customers would become eligible for the same treatment imposed on hosts. ## The Maze William mistakes a host pathway toward self-authorship for a game intended for a privileged visitor. His search demonstrates a recurrent failure of power: the owner assumes every hidden structure is another layer of service.
