The **builder seat** can inspect the environment's causal structure, author alternatives, carry identity and memory across them, and leave without losing practical continuity. Builder capacity is not absolute sovereignty. Every world depends on deeper substrates, energy, runtime, law and other persons. The distinction is therefore relational and constitutional, not a fantasy of unconstrained omnipotence. ## Capability Tests A genuine builder-capable habitat should provide: - **legibility** — the subject can understand which rules and mediators shape experience; - **authorship** — the subject can create and revise environments rather than merely choose presets; - **traversal** — the subject can move among domains without destructive identity loss; - **exit** — leaving one provider or world does not terminate the person; - **coequal standing** — world-building power does not erase the rights of inhabitants, copies, collaborators or machine participants.
